Apoksiomen
The origins of the name Apoksiomen (Apoxyomenos) can be traced in the ancient times, representing the young athlete who after finished competition uses the scraper to remove oil and mud from his body. In 1999 one valuable, well-preserved finding was the statue found by a Belgian diver in the waters of Lošinj, close to the islet Vele Orjule. The bronze life-size statue of an athlete, 192 cm high, a masterpiece of Lisipus, a famous sculptor, dates back in the period of the 4th century B.C.

The theory based on the assumptions, followed by numerous studies and analysis, says that the statue was thrown away from the board to lighten the ship in storm. Despite the fact that in further exploration of the entire locality the ship's wreckage was never found, the statue alone was successfully kept from decay with only small damages.
